FAQs

Still have questions? Check out more FAQs here or speak with our friendly Careers Team on 1300 669 699

How long will I need to study before I become a personal trainer?

It really depends on your learning style and other commitments. Online programs can take up to 12 months to complete to work with your lifestyle. Other blended options, that offer a mix of virtual learning and campus classes, can take as little as 37 weeks to complete.

Should you choose to study on campus, you can enroll as either a part-time or full-time student. Depending on your enrollment status and pre-existing qualifications you should expect your training to take between 30 and 35 weeks to complete.

How is success demonstrated in an online learning environment?

Our program is designed to offer you plenty of opportunities for engagement with both your peers and Coaches – via Zoom, across our learning platform and within our dedicated Facebook group. This access to a network of other professionals is designed to set you up for success.

You’ll be guided through role-plays, as well as through video and virtual coaches experience to demonstrate your understanding of the material from your courses. We’ve found that this method allows your instructors to assess your performance and provide constructive feedback.

What are the requirements to study at the Australian Institute of Fitness?

We have a set of criteria for acceptance to assess the skills of each prospective student and their learning needs. This is designed to ensure that we bring the best possible experience to our students and to the public as they look for qualified trainers.

What resources are available to help me find a job once I complete my train?

An education from the Australian Institute of Fitness provides our graduates with the support they need for a successful fitness career. Our team of professionals are constantly in communication with career partners to determine what opportunities are available.

Similarly, our students are welcome to attend our Fitness Industry Recruitment Expos (F.I.R.E.) or meet with our career partners on campus for presentations. Other available opportunities can also be found on our careers site, www.fitnesscareers.com.au.

Why should I choose to study at the Australian Institute of Fitness over other institutions?

An education through the Australian Institute of Fitness offers you the background you need in general training principles, nutrition and specialised conditions based on populations you may work with. Our programs are developed with practical sessions in addition to various workshops in a variety of modules to meet the needs of our students. What sets us apart is the time and preparation that each of our instructors and professionals on our Careers Team dedicate to helping our students set up their careers and get started as a personal trainer.
