Graduate Jessica Koczan Shares Her Journey To Becoming A Personal Trainer

While stuck behind a desk, working in a nine to five administration job, there was only one thing Australian Institute of Fitness graduate and owner at Fitbod Fitness , Jessica Koczan, wanted to do - she wanted to make a difference in her community. So, we recently caught up with Jessica to hear more about her journey to becoming a Master Trainer, this is her story.

“When I was young my Dad was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, however it wasn’t until I was 22 when I really began to understand what this meant for him and our family. This is where my passion to make a difference in people’s health really started.”

Having looked into The Institute in her early twenties, it took Jessica a few years before finally realising that a career in fitness was what she was meant to be pursuing. “I knew that the Australian Institute of Fitness had such an amazing, yet fun reputation and if I really wanted to make this happen, there was no other campus that could compare.”

“Studying with The Institute was more than I had ever expected. The workload was great, it kept me on my toes and they made studying online fun and really engaging, with all of the videos, virtual classroom sessions and being able to chat to my coaches when I needed help was AWESOME! I absolutely loved the course.”

“The support from my coaches was truly above and beyond. Fiona and Lou were outstanding. They wouldn’t just tell me to look at the course material, they would take the time either on the the phone, or in an email to explain it to me as many times as I needed to really understand.”

Since Jessica qualified at the end of 2016, she has worked in a gym, as a PT and a Manager, met amazing people both within the fitness industry, as well as in the form of her clients, and is now running her own business. She has also established a strong business relationship with a local supplement store and Nutritionist so she can offer her clients the best opportunity to reach their goals. “While running nine bootcamps and training 26 PT clients, I might be busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” shares Jessica.

Jessica credits her success to her genuine want to help others. “Every time I learnt something new or came across new content, I was inspired to share what I had learnt on social media with friends and family. I just wanted to be able to help people be the best version of themselves.”

We asked Jessica, what was one thing she wish she knew before completed her Master Trainer Program™ , her response; “To believe in myself more and don’t be afraid of failing because it’s a lesson to lead me in the right direction.”

“My number one piece of advice for aspiring Personal Trainers would have to be; JUST GO FOR IT! I couldn’t be happier to have created my own fitness family, I’m truly working my dream job. What have you got to lose?”

“Studying at the institute was the best decision of my life. It’s helped me become who I was destined to be - someone who is changing lives for the better.”
