“There's nothing like it and I actually get teary,” says Australian institute of Fitness Ambassador and graduate Michelle Bridges when asked about what it feels like to be a part of someone's weight loss transformation.
Michelle’s team on this year’s The Biggest Loser Australia, the Jofres, are the first family in TBL history to make it to the finale together and will be competing against each other for the show’s ultimate title tonight. Having been a key part of hundreds of health and fitness transformation in her long-term career as a Personal Trainer on and off television, Michelle says so much happens between the before and after shot.
“Lots of ups and downs, mountains of lessons learned, quiet introspection, sacrifice and commitment, complete shifts in ways of thinking,” the list could go on says Michelle.
However, Michelle isn’t willing to accept much credit when it comes to clients and contestants that have shed massive amounts of weight, bad habits and poor self-esteem. “I can never truly ensure my client’s long-term success” Michelle says “that’s up to them.” To find that strength within and harness it to consistently strive for optimal health.
“A transformation starts with the why,” Michelle says. if you can dig deep and find a strong reason to start, whether it’s noble or not, “The deeper your reason, the more likely you are to get out of bed every morning to train” says Michelle.
Want to encourage some serious accountability? Michelle is a fan of progress shots, and for good reason.
“I've had heaps of clients regret that they never took a before photo or their measurements when they started,” says Michelle. While it can be excruciating to confront your current health situation, Michelle counters that when change starts to happen you will be glad you went there.
The Biggest Loser Australia Season 10 Finale airs tonight on Channel 10.
