New Personal Training Student Laura Dundovic Shares Her Travel Workout and Fitness Journey
February 2, 2016

“I've always loved fitness,” says Model, TV Presenter and former Miss Universe Laura Dundovic. “When I was young my Mum would go to the gym and I watch her working out from the child minding room and as soon as I was old enough we went running in the mornings, so it has always been my thing.”

Last month, Laura decided to take her love of fitness to the next level and enrolled to study her Personal Training course at the Australian Institute of Fitness. “I wanted to learn everything I possibly could” explains Laura who decided to study at the Institute on the recommendation of a few friends and industry connections.

Combined with her family whom Laura describes as “fitness obsessed,” with a busy lifestyle and demanding work schedule Laura has already learnt a thing or two about the importance of health and fitness.

Having spent over two months this year in Europe supporting boyfriend and Wallabies squad member Quade Cooper, Laura wasn’t always able to find a gym. “I hated that” Laura says, “but I used it as an opportunity to mix it up by doing lots of running and body weight workouts.” Her favourite workout while travelling involves two weapons every Personal Trainer regularly relies upon - compound exercises and clever timing:

  • 5 x burpees

  • 10 x push-ups

  • 15 x squats.

Do it all in a minute and repeat for 10 minutes.

What you may not know is that Laura also suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which means staying on top of her health is even more important. Avoiding alcohol and sugar “I try and eat as fresh as possible” Laura says. She also finds that exercise is key to maintaining to her energy levels. “Whenever I am searching for motivation” she says, “I remember that after I exercised I will feel amazing after.”

The decision to study fitness also comes at a great time for the Australia model will spend the next few months in France as Quade Cooper makes his début for French rugby club Toulon.

"It is great that I can do the course online," Laura says, who and plans to use her time abroad to get stuck into her fitness study and workouts.
