The Master Trainer Program™ assesses on six extra criteria which, when achieved, will elevate you from a standard Trainer to an Institute Certified Master Trainer Level 1, equipping you with the latest skills, knowledge and know-how you’ll need to kick-start your successful career in the fitness industry.
Delivered through a streamlined, fun and effective learning experience, this program covers all the fitness fundamentals plus much more, including anatomy, physiology, how to prescribe exercise as well as training principles and solutions for a range of groups and special populations such as adults, adolescents, older adults, amateur athletes and people with body composition and endurance based goals.
Business will also be a key focus where you will learn how to setup and prepare for your own small business, and learn basic sales and marketing skills necessary to acquire clients. Keeping up with the latest industry trends you will learn how to utilise a range of technological tools to enhance your fitness business, such as range of motion testers and wearable technology.
Plus, you will have the opportunity to attend FREE industry skills workshops, learning the latest, cutting edge equipment solutions in addition to our famous Fitness Industry Recruitment Expos (F.I.R.E. Nights).
As of October 2020 ‘Master Trainer’ (SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness) will be superseded by ‘Master Trainer’ (SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness + SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness), which will now include the Institute’s ‘Fitness Coach’ Certificate III qualification.

Students must be over 16 to start the entry requirement units (Exercise Professional course) and over 17 before they begin SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness. They must also have a computer and internet access, a passion for fitness, and meet the Australian Institute of Fitness' acceptance criteria, which includes an eligibility interview and demonstrating satisfactory levels of language, literacy and numeracy. Students must successfully complete Exercise Professional before commencing SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness.
Training and Assessment
The program is delivered over 80 delivery sessions, including knowledge checks and assessment challenges, with some information being delivered and assessed both on campus and online. Six extra criteria must be met to gain the Master Trainer Level 1 certification.

The Certificate III in Fitness (SIS30313) and Certificate IV in Fitness (SIS40210) qualifications have been recently superseded and are currently being upgraded to new qualifications, Certificate III in Fitness (SIS30315) and Certificate IV in Fitness (SIS40215) respectively. These changes are part of the industry review and improvement cycle and affect all vocational education and training providers. Students will be informed upon enrolment if their course will be affected by the transition and advised of the qualifications they may receive upon completion.
