How to Write a Cover Letter for a Group Exercise Instructor

Your career as a Group Exercise Instructor is to stand out and lead the pack. So when it comes to applying for jobs, make sure you take charge and let your cover letter do the talking for you. Here are some top tips to help get you started.

Make Your Point
A cover letter is your introduction to the world. The trick is to make that introduction short, sweet and to the point. Start with a clear purpose in your opening paragraph. State the job you’re applying for, why you think you’re best suited for the role, and use words from the job description. Remember, your cover letter will be in amongst many others, so position your most powerful, persuasive sentences right at the beginning, keeping it concise (no longer than one page) and easy to read.

Think Big
Focus on convincing your potential employer about the value you will bring to the group exercise timetable. Do this by succinctly listing your proven fitness experience, qualifications, and accomplishments. If you’re just starting out in the industry, try to highlight skills in other areas that would complement the role. Also take this opportunity to explain your own professional goals so your reader can get a good idea of your planned career path in the fitness industry.

Get Personal
A powerfully written cover letter uses personal examples to illustrate a point. This is particularly important for Group Exercise Instructors, as your real-life class stories are central to your success. Make a brief mention of your most outstanding achievements. Maybe you’ve been shadowing someone and the classes are always filled to capacity. Touch on your personal achievements and emphasise results.
